Apple app (iPhone, iPad and Mac)

The Apple app converts your animations on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. It never sends your animations, the files it makes, their names or their descriptions to us. It goes online only if you ask it for your Framer plugin key.

Your library

The app reads the files and folders you choose, or that you share to it from another app. It keeps each animation, its settings and what you made from it in the app’s own storage on your device. If iCloud Drive is turned on for your Apple Account, it also keeps a copy in the app’s folder in your own iCloud Drive, so your other devices show the same library. Apple stores and syncs that copy under its own iCloud terms; we never receive it. Your original files are not changed.

An animation you delete moves to a trash on that device and is removed after 30 days. Deleting the app removes what it keeps on the device. To remove the iCloud copy, delete the app’s data in your device’s iCloud storage settings. Copies you saved or sent elsewhere stay there until you delete them.

Collection and tracking

The app has no account, advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking. Converting and exporting never need a connection.

Your Framer plugin key

Your App Store purchase includes a key for the Glimmerglass plugin in Framer. When you tap Get my key in Settings, and only then, the app sends Apple’s signed proof of your purchase to our licence server in Germany, once, over HTTPS. The server checks Apple’s signature, makes your key from the purchase’s anonymous App Store identifier and sends it back. The proof carries no name, email address or Apple Account, and the server keeps nothing from it. Like any request, the connection is used briefly to limit how often keys can be asked for. The app keeps the key on your device, in its Keychain. The same purchase always gets the same key, so asking again on another device gives you the same one.

When you paste the key into the plugin, our conversion service checks it itself and never sends it to Gumroad. An App Store refund does not switch the key off, because Apple does not tell us about it.

Links and sharing

Links in the app, such as this website or the plugin page, open in your browser. Email the key to myself opens a draft in your own mail app, addressed to nobody. A destination you choose when sharing an export handles that file under its own terms.

Purchases

Apple handles App Store purchases and payment. We do not receive your payment details.

Fonts and software in the app

The app includes the Satoshi typeface by the Indian Type Foundry (ITF Free Font License), Goudy Bookletter 1911 by Barry Schwartz (SIL Open Font License 1.1, full text in the Framer plugin section), and the WebM Project’s libvpx and libwebm and Google’s libwebp, each under its BSD 3-Clause license.

Framer plugin data handling

The Framer plugin uploads your animation to our server in Germany over HTTPS for conversion. It does not convert files on your device.

Your selected artwork

Choosing an animation in the plugin uploads its files and their names to the conversion service straight away, so the service can measure them and estimate file sizes. Changing a setting sends the settings, not your files again. Pressing Create Component starts the conversion. A .glim file you already made is read in your browser and not sent to our server.

Your uploaded files are deleted from our server as soon as the conversion finishes or fails. The finished files never get a public download link: only the plugin that started the job can fetch them, with a private code for that job, and they are deleted as soon as it has them. Anything left behind, such as a job you abandoned, is deleted 30 minutes after its upload began. If the converter stops unexpectedly during a job, that cleanup can take longer.

The plugin uploads the finished media to the Framer project you are editing, and Framer keeps it there. The component includes references to those files and its player. Download in the plugin builds its file in your browser, not on our server.

The plugin loads its Satoshi typeface from Fontshare (Indian Type Foundry), which receives your browser's connection details to deliver it.

License verification

The plugin stores your key, a random device identifier and the time of the last successful check in that browser’s local storage. It sends the key and device identifier to the conversion service, which checks the key with Gumroad. Your license is for you, on your own browsers and computers. There's a soft limit of 5 browsers to catch shared keys - normal use never touches it. The service checks again before accepting an upload. If a payment is reversed, such as a chargeback, its key stops working.

To notice a key being shared widely, the service keeps a one-way fingerprint of the key, which can't be turned back into it, and of each device identifier that used it, with the hour each device was first seen and the time of the last check. Each browser is remembered for 30 days, then quietly re-verified with Gumroad. It does not keep the key itself, your name or your email address. A key that appears on many new devices in a short time, or starts conversions at an unusual rate, may be slowed or paused. Removing the license from a browser clears the key saved there. Keys are not embedded in generated components.

Operational information

The service uses a temporary one-way license identifier for short-lived request limits. Logs record service events and errors. They never contain your files, filenames or full license key.

Server logs may keep Gumroad order references for license support and administration.

The server is backed up once a day, and each backup is kept for 7 days. A backup copies everything on the server at that moment, including the license records above and the files of any job not yet deleted. So deleted data, including your artwork and its finished files, can remain in a backup for up to 7 days.

Purchases and license keys are handled by Gumroad. Project assets are handled by Framer. Their own privacy policies apply to their services.
